Meeting with UK Special Envoy to the Commonwealth

On April 30, 2026, I received United Kingdom Special Envoy to the Commonwealth John Virgeo, who was introduced by United Kingdom High Commissioner to Eswatini Colin Wells.

Our discussions focused on identifying and refining Eswatini’s key priorities within the Commonwealth framework, particularly in advancing sustainable development, enhancing trade and investment opportunities and strengthening our resilience to climate change.

We also explored avenues for deepening cooperation between Eswatini and the United Kingdom, including alignment on our country’s priorities within the Commonwealth and preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2026, scheduled to take place in November in Antigua and Barbuda.

During our engagement, we exchanged views on potential areas of collaboration to be brought forward at CHOGM 2026 and discussed the importance of leveraging that platform to attract strategic partnerships and investment into priority sectors of Eswatini’s economy.
