A Warm Welcome to Mozambique’s State Secretary for Foreign Affairs

On Friday, 18 September 2026, I had the pleasure of receiving a courtesy call from Dr. Maria de Fátima Manso, State Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Communities Abroad of the Republic of Mozambique.

Our meeting was a welcome reaffirmation of the cordial and longstanding relations between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Republic of Mozambique. We are neighbours bound by history, geography and friendship, and we agreed on the importance of maintaining regular high-level engagement and ensuring that the bilateral agreements we already have in place are implemented effectively.

We also explored opportunities to deepen our cooperation across several areas, including security, defence, trade, transport, consular affairs and regional cooperation. Each of these touches the daily lives of our people, whether it is goods moving across our borders, families travelling between our two countries, or the safety and stability of our region.

I was particularly pleased to welcome the Government of Mozambique’s initiative to bring consular and documentation services closer to Mozambican nationals living in the Kingdom. This is a practical step that will make a real difference to many families, and it reflects the kind of people-centred cooperation I believe our relationship should be built on. I also expressed my appreciation for the continued collaboration between our two governments in addressing matters that affect our respective communities.

I left the meeting encouraged. Our conversation reflected a shared commitment by Eswatini and Mozambique to strengthen our bilateral ties and to pursue cooperation that benefits both our nations. I look forward to building on this engagement in the months ahead.
